A Friendship Forged in Rivalry
Our story starts in St. Louis, Missouri, where we met as students at rival high schools. Despite the competitive atmosphere, we quickly discovered a mutual respect and admiration for each other’s drive and ambition. Our friendship blossomed, and over the years, we supported each other through countless milestones, both personal and professional.
The Spark of an Idea
As we navigated our careers at Fortune 100 companies, we recognized a significant gap in the wedding industry—there were few resources and platforms that truly celebrated black and brown brides. We often felt underrepresented and overlooked in mainstream wedding media. This realization sparked an idea: what if we created a space where women of color could see themselves reflected in every detail of their wedding journey?
Building Brown Skin Bride
Fueled by our passion and a shared vision, we launched Brown Skin Bride. Our mission was clear: to build a business that highlights women of color in a fun, uplifting, and authentic light. We wanted to create a platform that offers not only beautiful and unique products but also inspiration, support, and community for brides of color.

Starting Brown Skin Bride was no easy feat. We faced numerous challenges, from securing funding to balancing our full-time jobs while building the business.
